Recipe Pass and Fails

I’m constantly making recipes from Pinterest and Facebook…some pass and some fail.

I have to be in the mood for cooking so when I am I like to try something different and more on the healthy side.

I can always tell when my husband likes the dish when he goes back for seconds. He’s not a big fan of veggies so I try to hide them in the meal  🙂

So yesterday I made a recipe from Pinterest and it turned out excellent!

Remembrance Day

Remembrance Day is the one day that is very important to me and my family.

I spent many days playing cards with my Great Grandpa while he told me stories of the war.

I grew up going to the Remembrance Day ceremonies at the Legion as well as with my children at there schools to lay the wreaths for the people that died for us.

When my mother died she requested we have a poppy put on her urn in Remembrance of those who fought for us. Still to this day I make sure wherever our family is we have our minute silence to remember.

So Halloween is just around the corner. Gotta admit I’m not a big fan of anything to do with spiders 🙁!!!

I work in a grocery store so seeing the kids get excited is pretty cool! Selling a lot of pumpkins as well! Here are some cool ideas for carving your pumpkins! Have fun and be safe!

These are all courtesy of Pinterest!

The skull in a pumpkin.

The paw print.

The witch’s face.

And a pumpkin eating a pumpkin!

Hahaha these are all really good carvings! To see more head to Pinterest!

Las Vegas Here We Come

We had a great Thanksgiving with the family. Now it’s time to get ready for Vegas!

We told the kids once they were of age we would all go to Vegas for a couple days…well we leave tomorrow!

Not sure what to pack so I did some research.

Top 10 things to do in Vegas?

Ever think about jumping off the Stratosphere???

And where to eat?

How about having a steak at Gordon Ramseys Restaurant?!

Remember what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas 🙂

Back from Vegas! Here’s a couple pictures!

Well as the weather starts to get colder and the trailer is put away it’s time to think about the winter festivities. Thanksgiving is coming up quick so I hope you picked up your turkey, ham or whatever you’re having for the special day! I have been notified that my son and daughter- in- law will be cooking Thanksgiving dinner at our house which is awesome!

Thought I would add a couple charts for the turkey cooking.

And for those of you that would rather have ham here are a couple different ways to cook it so it tastes delish! Cook the ham in a slow cooker!

Or the old fashioned oven recipe.

As for the sides we’re just having the basic potato, gravy. stuffing and salad.

Of course appies while the birds in the oven!

Have a wonderful long weekend and Happy Thanksgiving!

House for sale!!!

So we’re getting close to ending the camping season, we have spent every weekend and many week days in our trailer and don’t want it to end.

As previously talked about in the past posts Doug and I have decided to put our “Dream Home” for sale in the spring of 2017. We will be moving into our trailer as soon as it sells and then we’ll see where life takes us from there 🙂

It’s going to be a very busy winter getting everything ready for the new prospective owners but whoever decides to take over our home will love it as we have for many years.

As the camping season ends and the decluttering begins I will be updating this website regularly. I will be posting a sneak peek of our home on Facebook for you all to check out.

The Bawlf Wedding!

So I’m going to tell you a little story.

My family has been going to a friends farm called Alberta’s Littlest Airport just outside of Bawlf Alberta for years. It’s one of the flying events that have kept us coming back because of the owners and people that are there every year including all the kids who have grown up there.

The guys fly , the kids play and the rest of us  relax and visit. The kids have grown close to each other as well as the adults. Relationships have transpired with some of the “Bawlf” kids. Some still going today and some not.

So on this weekend we attended a wedding at the Alberta’s Littlest Airport  that was for “Bawlf Family” only. We were so honored to be invited. Terry Lynn and Skylar met at ALA 4 years ago and decided to get married at the exact same location that they met.

They had the reception in Harvard Hall. This is a lean too building that every body visits in just off the flight line. It’s called Harvard Hall because for years the Blackwells (owners of the farm) had there friends do a fly by with their Harvards.

They did a lot of work to get Harvard Hall looking awesome!

It was a very casual wedding. Not at all stressful like some are 🙁

Here’s a couple pics of the happy couple and SOME of the original Bawlf kids.

It was a great weekend for all! I would highly recommend checking out this facility on any weekend there’s a flying event. The people are awesome!

Miquelon Lake

We had a free weekend so what did we decide to do?? Stay at home to do some long awaited work on the acreage…nooo we went CAMPING 🙂

Miquelon Lake is just minutes from our house so we decided to pull the trailer there for the weekend. Was just the two of us and the dog but relaxing.

It started with a child’s broken toy and dirty diapers in our site which really erched me.  But after I stopped complaining about that we enjoyed the rest of our weekend.

Miquelon is a pretty nice campground with lots of grass area to play on and a nice playground for the kids to go to. The beach leaves something to desire and you can not go in the lake its not suitable for swimming. The campground is big…lots of sites, park information center, trails, group site and a small golf course at the end.

I had to take a pictures of the path that the leaves were falling on…I couldn’t believe they were all ready falling it was only August! It was a good weekend though.
